[8] Simónis: The Lat. gen. inflexion, Simónis, present in both mss, is necessary to a give an 8-syllable hrynhent l. Kock (Skald) emends to Símeons, which would also work, with neutralisation of –‘éons’, but emendation of the ms. form is unnecessary. Skj B’s góðr og mildr Símónis bróðir either has one syllable too many (if mildr is desyllabified) or two stresses clashing on mildr and Sím-, which is not found in hrynhent.
