The H redaction places this stanza after Herv Lv 6 (Heiðr 21), but it must come after the dialogue between Hervǫr and the shepherd, not part way through. — The U redaction (which has slight variants) has this stanza spoken by the shepherd, with the prose introduction, Féhirðir … tók til hlaupa sem mest mátti hann … ok kvað þetta ‘The shepherd … took to his heels as fast as he could … and recited this’. The stanza is clearly meant to be third-person narrative rather than speech, however. — Edd. Min. prints this stanza only in the notes.
