Sigurðr stayed away from Norway because he lacked support, especially in Trøndelag and Møre.
According to the prose texts, Sigurðr first went to Orkney (or the Hebrides) and then returned to Norway. Because of the opposition against him, he was forced to leave Norway for a second time. See Mork 1928-32, 415, Hkr (ÍF 28, 309) and Andersson and Gade 2000, 50-1.
