Notes: [1] faðminn ‘embrace’: Cf. the same word in 55/6, where it refers to Christ’s embrace. — [4] lifandi guð með feðr og anda ‘living God with the Father and the Spirit’: The mention of the Father and the Holy Spirit indicates that the pronoun þinnar in l. 3 refers to Christ, the second person of the Trinity. The phrase echoes the standard liturgical formula for the conclusion of prayers: per Dominum nostrum Jesum Christum, Filium tuum, qui tecum vivit et regnat in unitate Spiritus Sancti, Deus per omnia sæcula sæculorum ‘through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever’.
