Sýn þig, gæzku grundar
guðs f…a móðir
‘Reveal yourself, … mother of God [= Mary], of the ground of grace [= God (= Christ)], and of that one who in truth was born from you, gentle, with splendour. And, blessed hope, shining with men’s praise, holy Christ carries your prayers into the highest glory of heaven [= Mary].’
This st. is based on the fourth v. of Ave maris stella: Monstra te esse matrem, / sumat per te precem / qui pro nobis natus / tulit esse tuus ‘Show yourself to be a mother: through you may he take up our prayer, who, born for us, took on being your [Son]’.
