Skjöldungr veitir skýja veldis
skírðum þjóðum alt hið góða
hjartanliga á himnum björtum;
háleitr er Kristr Jésús sálum.
Stendr og sitr til hægri handar
heilög Máría aldar deili;
mildingr skipar nú mána foldar
mæstr Kátrínu henni hið næsta.
{Skjöldungr {veldis skýja}} veitir hjartanliga skírðum þjóðum á björtum himnum alt hið góða; Jésús Kristr er háleitr sálum. Heilög Máría stendr og sitr til hægri handar {deili aldar}; {mæstr mildingr {foldar mána}} skipar nú Kátrínu hið næsta henni.
‘The king of the realm of the clouds [SKY/HEAVEN > = God] sincerely grants baptised people in the bright heavens everything good; Jesus Christ is sublime towards souls. Holy Mary stands and sits at the right hand of the ruler of people [= God]; the greatest prince of the land of the moon [SKY/HEAVEN > = God] now places Catherine next to her.’
[4]: Here Kock’s suggestion (NN §§2964, 3385) is adopted, that l. 3 qualifies ll. 1-2, leaving l. 4 as a complete cl. Finnur Jónsson in Skj B takes l. 3 with l. 4.
