Önundur hét sonur Yngvars er þar næst tók konungdóm í
Svíþjóð. Um hans daga var friður góður í Svíþjóð og varð hann
mjög auðigur að lausafé. Önundur konungur fór með her sinn
til Eistlands að hefna föður síns, gekk þar upp með her sinn
og herjaði víða um landið og fékk herfang mikið, fer aftur um
haustið til Svíþjóðar. Um hans daga var ár mikið í Svíþjóðu.
Önundur var allra konunga vinsælstur.

Svíþjóð er markland mikið og liggja þar svo eyðimerkur að
margar dagleiðir eru yfir. Önundur konungur lagði á það kapp
mikið og kostnað að ryðja markir og byggja eftir ruðin. Hann
lét og leggja vegu yfir eyðimerkur og fundust þá víða í
mörkunum skóglaus lönd og byggðust þar þá stór héruð. Varð af
þessum hætti land byggt því að landsfólkið var gnógt til
byggðarinnar. Önundur konungur lét brjóta vegu um alla
Svíþjóð, bæði um markir og mýrar og fjallvegu. Fyrir því var
hann Braut-Önundur kallaður. Önundur konungur setti bú sín í
hvert stórhérað á Svíþjóð og fór um allt landið að veislum.
