Oddr, you were not at {the blade-reddening} [BATTLE], when we caused the mighty ruler’s men to die. I carried from there six and eight [fourteen] wounds, but you were begging for food for yourself among the settlements.

Context: Sigurðr now approaches Oddr with a second horn full of ale and recites this stanza.
Notes: [All]: Sigurðr uses another standard topos of the mannjafnaðr, of the form ‘I was at the fight, but you were not there [implication: you were too cowardly to fight]; instead you were engaged in a demeaning act in pursuit of creature comforts [implication: you are soft and unmanly]’. — [7] með bygðum ‘among the settlements’: The other mss have með bæjum ‘among the farms’.
