Frétti Guðmundr,         ef ek fara vilda
heim at hausti         ok honum fylgja.
Sagða ek svinnum,         at ek sjá vilda
norðr aldrigi         niðja mína.

Guðmundr frétti, ef ek vilda fara heim at hausti ok fylgja honum. Ek sagða svinnum, at ek vilda aldrigi sjá niðja mína norðr.

Guðmundr asked whether I wanted to go home in the autumn and follow him. I told the wise one that I never again wanted to see my kinsmen in the north.

Notes: [All]: This stanza draws on a short passage in Ǫrv, which follows directly from the prose that probably relates to Ǫrv 101. In the saga (Ǫrv 1888, 66-9), shortly after the episode alluded to in st. 101, Hjálmarr invites Oddr to go with him to Sweden, but Guðmundr and Sigurðr, Oddr’s kinsmen, decide to go north to Hrafnista. In 7 Ásmundr is also of the party.
