My life was much superior, when we followed prudent king Hálfr. We all pursued the same strategy and harried throughout every land.

Mss: 2845(38r) (Hálf)

Editions: Skj AII, 265, Skj BII, 287, Skald II, 150; Hálf 1864, 31-2, Hálf 1909, 120, FSGJ 2, 124-5, Hálf 1981, 191; Edd. Min. 44.

Notes: [3]: This line is hypermetrical, even if the ms.’s late form kóngi (for konungi ‘king’) is retained. It is therefore likely that the word kóngi is a later addition, and that the line originally read þá er vér Hálfi, as has been emended by Edd. Min., Skj B and Skald.
