The new edition is either unpublished or unavailable. The following is taken from an old edition (Skj where relevant):

Það bar til tíðinda að Kambi í Króksfirði, þar bjó Eiríkur Kjartansson. Þangað höfðu sótt dagskemmtan Jón og Þorsteinn synir Króksfjarðar og var Þorsteinn inni, hann átti þar fylgjukonu, en Jón stóð úti undir vegg og talaði við Steinunni húsfreyju. Þá ríða menn fyrir húsin, Víðkunnur Línuson og Vigfús. Hann hafði þá öxina Steinsnaut en Víðkunnur hafði sviðu og silfri rekinn leggurinn og allra vopna bitrast, járni vafið skaftið. Þeir hljópu þegar að Jóni og sögðu að þá skyldu þeir launa honum atferðir og eltingar og lagði Víðkunnur til hans með sviðunni en Steinunn rann á Vigfús og hélt honum. Jón hafði öxi víða og lágt skaft í. Hann laust af sér lagið og greip sviðuna og las að höndum honum. Þá vildi Víðkunnur bregða saxi en Jón tók hann og þá kenndi aflsmunar og hörfaði Víðkunnur undan. Þá kom Þorsteinn út og varð ekki tilræði hans. Og er Jón sá það hratt hann Víðkunni frá sér svo hart að honum lá við fall. Síðan hjó hann til hans og kom um þvert ennið og var það ærið banasár. Þessi áverki var mjög lofaður af flestum mönnum. Eftir þessa atburði lagðist orðrómur á að annar háttur þótti á um héraðsstjórnina en þá er Þorgils hafði og tóku þá margir þeir er mikið þóttust að sér eiga að ráða sér til eigna í aðra staði þar sem þeim þótti trausts að von.
