Einar þambarskelfir var á Orminum aftur í krapparúmi. Hann
skaut af boga og var allra manna harðskeytastur. Einar skaut
að Eiríki jarli og laust í stýrishnakkann fyrir ofan höfuð
jarli og gekk allt upp á reyrböndin. Jarl leit til og spurði
ef þeir vissu hver þar skaut en jafnskjótt kom önnur ör svo
nær jarli að flaug milli síðunnar og handarinnar og svo aftur
í höfðafjölina að langt stóð út broddurinn.

Þá mælti jarl við þann mann er sumir nefna Finn en sumir
segja að hann væri finnskur, sá var hinn mesti bogmaður:
"Skjóttu mann þann hinn mikla í krapparúminu."

Finnur skaut og kom örin á boga Einars miðjan í því bili er
Einar dró hið þriðja sinn bogann. Brast þá boginn í tvo
hluti.

Þá mælti Ólafur konungur: "Hvað brast þar svo hátt?"

Einar svarar: "Noregur úr hendi þér konungur."

"Eigi mun svo mikill brestur orðinn," segir konungur, "tak
boga minn og skjót af og kastaði boganum til hans.

Einar tók bogann og dró þegar fyrir odd örvarinnar og mælti:
"Of veikur, of veikur allvalds bogi" og kastaði aftur
boganum, tók þá skjöld sinn og sverð og barðist.
