Ólafur konungur Tryggvason stóð í lyftingu á Orminum og skaut
oftast um daginn, stundum bogaskoti en stundum gaflökum og
jafnan tveim senn.
Hann sá fram á skipið og sá sína menn reiða sverðin og höggva
títt og sá að illa bitu, mælti þá hátt: "Hvort reiðið þér svo
slælega sverðin er eg sé að ekki bíta yður?"
Maður svarar: "Sverð vor eru slæ og brotin mjög."
Þá gekk konungur ofan í fyrirrúmið og lauk upp
hásætiskistuna, tók þar úr mörg sverð hvöss og fékk mönnum.
En er hann tók niður hinni hægri hendi þá sáu menn að blóð
rann ofan undan brynstúkunni. Engi veit hvar hann var sár.
