The new edition is either unpublished or unavailable. The following is taken from an old edition (Skj where relevant):

Erlingur Skjálgsson gerði um sumarið brullaup sitt og var þar
allmikið fjölmenni. Þar var Ólafur konungur. Þá bauð konungur
að gefa Erlingi jarldóm.

Erlingur segir svo: "Hersar hafa verið frændur mínir. Vil eg
ekki hafa nafn hærra en þeir. Hitt vil eg þiggja konungur af
yður að þér látið mig vera mestan með því nafni hér í landi."

Konungur játti honum það. Og að skilnaði þeirra veitti Ólafur
konungur Erlingi mági sínum norðan frá Sognsæ og austur til
Líðandisness með þvílíkum hætti sem Haraldur hinn hárfagri
hafði veitt sonum sínum og fyrr er ritið.
