En er haustaði sigldi hann austur fyrir Svíaveldi, tók þá að herja og brenna landið því að hann þóttist eiga Svíum að launa fullan fjandskap er þeir höfðu tekið af lífi föður hans.

Óttar svarti segir það berum orðum að hann fór þá austur úr Danmörk:

Öttuð árum skreyttum
austr í salt með flaustum.
Báruð lind af landi,
landvörðr, á skip randir.
Neyttuð segls og settuð
sundvarpaði stundum.
Sleit mjök róin mikla
mörg ár und þér báru.

Drótt var drjúglegr ótti,
dólglinns, að för þinni,
svanbræðir, namstu síðan
Svíþjóðar nes rjóða.
