En er þau Gunnhildur urðu þessa vör, að Eiríkur konungur var
fallinn og hann hafði áður herjað land Englakonungs, þá
þykjast þau vita að þeim mun þar vera eigi friðvænt. Búast
þau þá þegar í brott af Norðimbralandi og hafa skip þau öll
er Eiríkur konungur hafði átt, höfðu lið það og allt er þeim
vildi fylgja og óf lausafjár er þar hafði saman dregist í
sköttum á Englandi en sumt hafði fengist í hernaði. Þau halda
liði sínu norður til Orkneyja og staðfestust þar um hríð. Þá
var þar jarl Þorfinnur hausakljúfur sonur Torf-Einars. Tóku
þá synir Eiríks undir sig Orkneyjar og Hjaltland og höfðu
skatta af og sátu þar um vetrum en fóru í vesturvíking á
sumrum, herjuðu um Skotland og Írland.

Hafði för til ferju

fróðr Skáneyjar góða

blakkríðandi bakka

barnungr þaðan farna.

Rógeisu vann ræsir,

rand-Ullr, á Skotlandi,

sendi seggja kindar

sverðbautinn her Gauti.

Dólgeisu rak dísar,

drótt kom mörg á flótta,

gumna vinr að gamni

gjóðum, írskrar þjóðar.

Foldar rauð og felldi

Freyr í manna dreyra

sunnr, á sigr um hlynninn,

seggi mækis eggjar.
