Ögn drottning fæðir nú son þann, er Agnarr hét. Hann var
snimma mikill ok efniligr.

En er Helgi konungr spurði þetta, safnar hann liði ok ferr á
fund Hróks. Tekst þar bardagi, ok svá lýkr, at Hrókr verðr
handtekinn.

Þá mælti Helgi konungr: "Þú ert allillr höfðingi, en því mun
ek eigi drepa þik, at þér er meiri skömm at lifa við
harmkvæli."

Síðan Iét hann brjóta fótleggi hans ok handleggi ok sendi
hann svá aptr í ríki sitt, at hann var til einskis færr.

En er Agnarr Hróarsson var tólf vetra, þóttust menn ekki hafa
sét þvílíkan mann, ok um alla atgervi var hann fram yfir aðra
menn. Hann gerðist hermaðr svá mikill ok frægr, at hans er
víða getit í fornum sögum, at hann hafi mestr kappi verit at
fornu ok nýju. Hann spurðist eptir, hvar fjörðr sá væri, sem
Hrókr hafði slengt hringnum utan borðs; margir höfðu eptir
honum leitat með alls konar vígvélum ok náðu honum eigi.

Ok svá er sagt, at Agnarr kemr skipi sínu á þenna fjörð ok
mælti: "Þat væri nú snarræði at sækja eptir hringnum, ef menn
hafa hér glögg mið á."

Menn sögðu honum þá, hvar honum hefði verit á sjóinn kastat.
Síðan býr Agnarr sik til ok kafar í djúpit ok kemr upp ok
hefir eigi hringinn. Ofan fór hann í annat sinn ok hefir eigi
nát honum, er hann kemr upp.

Nú mælti hann: "Slæliga er nú eptir sótt," ok fór svá niðr í
þriðja sinn ok kom þá upp með hringinn.

Af þessu varð hann ágætliga frægr ok frægri en hans faðir,
Hróarr konungr, sitr nú í ríki sínu um vetrum, en í víkingu á
sumrin ok gerðist frægr maðr ok meiri en hans faðir.

Þau Helgi konungr ok Yrsa unntust mikit ok áttu einn son,
þann er Hrólfr hét, er mikill mætamaðr varð síðan.
