Anon Lil 29VII/7 — mun ‘will’

Heyrði og trúði, en undraz orðin
jungfrú kyrr, því vissi hun fyrri
aldri kvaddan mann á moldu
með þvílíkri tígnarkveðju.
Fyrirbjóðandi henni að hræðaz,
höfuðeingillinn talaði leingra:
‘Guð himnanna fram mun fæðaz,
frúin skínandi, af holdi þínu.’

Kyrr jungfrú heyrði og trúði, en undraz orðin, því hun vissi aldri fyrri mann á moldu kvaddan með þvílíkri tígnarkveðju. Höfuðeingillinn talaði leingra, fyrirbjóðandi henni að hræðaz: ‘Frúin skínandi, guð himnanna mun fæðaz fram af holdi þínu.’

The calm virgin listened and believed, but she was amazed at the words, because she knew that never before was anyone on earth addressed with such a majestic greeting. The archangel spoke further, forbidding her to be afraid: ‘Radiant woman, the God of the heavens [= God (= Christ)] will be brought forth from your flesh.’
