The new edition is either unpublished or unavailable. The following is taken from an old edition (Skj where relevant):

Þar er nú fyrst til að taka er heimamenn styrma yfir Þorgilsi
er hann er veginn. Og um kveldið er farið til strandar og
fundust þeir þar vegnir, Þengill og Þorsteinn, en hina tvo
fundu þeir vegna um morguninn. Þessi tíðindi spyrjast nú víða
og harma fáir Þorgils né sonu hans. En mikið þykir verkið
orðið hafa eins manns og á einu aftankveldi og þykir Refur
óslælega rekið hafa illmælið.

Gunnar mágur Þorgils spyr nú þessi tíðindi og lætur hann
setja vörðu á hvert annes um byggðir báðar ef Ref kynni
nokkur að að bera um haustið. En eignir mátti ekki upp taka
er allar voru seldar. Gunnar var fyrir mönnum í Vestribyggð.
Hvergi spyrst til Refs. Um vorið sendir Gunnar menn norður í
óbyggðir að leita Refs og finnst hann ekki og engi maður spyr
til hans. Gunnar leggur nú á það hug að Refur muni látist
hafa er hann hafði á skip gengið með sex einum mönnum og þó
öllum óknálegum. Nú líða svo fjórir vetur og spyrst hvergi
til Refs og leggst nú niður þessi umgröftur um Ref. Þykjast
menn nú vita að hann mun týnst hafa eða rekið skip hans til
óbyggða.

Munum vér hér fyrst hverfa frá.
