Sigvaldi jarl hélt liði sínu norður um Stað, lagði fyrst til
Hereyja. Landsmenn, þótt víkingar fyndu, þá sögðu þeir aldrei
satt til hvað jarlar höfðust að. Víkingar herjuðu hvar sem
þeir fóru. Þeir lögðu utan að Höð, runnu þar upp og herjuðu,
færðu til skipa bæði man og bú en drápu karla þá er vígt var
að. En er þeir fóru ofan til skipa þá kom til þeirra gamall
bóndi einn en þar fór nær sveit Búa.

Bóndinn mælti: "Þér farið óhermannlega, rekið til strandar
kýr og kálfa. Væri yður meiri veiður að taka björninn er nú
er nær kominn á bjarnbásinn."

"Hvað segir karl?" segja þeir. "Kanntu nokkuð segja oss til
Hákonar jarls?"

Bóndi segir: "Hann reri í gær inn í Hörundarfjörð. Hafði jarl
eitt skip eða tvö, eigi voru fleiri en þrjú, og hafði ekki
til yðar spurt."

Þeir Búi taka þegar á hlaup til skipanna og láta laust allt
herfangið.

Búi mælti: "Njótum vér nú er vér höfum fengið njósn og verum
næstir sigrinum."

En er þeir koma á skipin róa þeir þegar út. Kallaði Sigvaldi
jarl á þá og spurði tíðinda. Þeir segja að Hákon jarl var þar
inn í fjörðinn. Síðan leysir jarl flotann og róa fyrir norðan
eyna Höð og svo inn um eyna.
