Eftir um sumarið gerðist mikil ræða um helgi Ólafs konungs og sneri öllum orðróm um konunginn. Voru þeir þá margir er það sönnuðu að konungur mundi heilagur vera er fyrr höfðu af öllum fjandskap móti honum gengið og látið hann í engi stað ná af sér sannmæli. Tóku menn þá að snúast til ámælis við þá menn er mest höfðu eggjað mótgöngu við konunginn. Var af því mikið kennt Sigurði biskupi. Gerðust menn þar hans óvinir svo miklir að hann sá þann helst sinn kost að fara í brott og vestur til Englands á fund Knúts konungs.

Síðan gerðu Þrændir menn og orðsendingar til Upplanda að Grímkell biskup skyldi koma norður til Þrándheims. Ólafur konungur hafði sent Grímkel biskup aftur til Noregs þá er konungur fór austur í Garðaríki. Hafði Grímkell biskup síðan verið á Upplöndum.

En er þessi orðsending kom til biskups þá bjóst hann þegar til þeirrar farar. Bar það og mjög til er hann fór, að biskup trúði að það mundi með sannindum er sagt var frá jartegnagerð og helgi Ólafs konungs.
