Ólafur konungur hélt liði sínu vestur til Gríslupolla og barðist þar við víkinga fyrir Vilhjálmsbæ. Þar hafði Ólafur konungur sigur.

Svo segir Sighvatur:

Ólafr, vannstu, þar er jöfrar,
ellefta styr, féllu,
ungr komstu af því þingi,
þollr, í Gríslupollum.
Þat frá eg víg, að víttu,
Viljálms fyr bæ, hjálma,
tala minnst er það telja,
tryggs jarls, háið snarla.

Því næst barðist hann vestur í Fetlafirði sem segir Sighvatur:

Tönn rauð tólfta sinni
tírfylgjandi ylgjar,
varð, í Fetlafirði,
fjörbann lagið mönnum.

Þaðan fór Ólafur konungur allt suður til Seljupolla og átti þar orustu. Þar vann hann borg þá er hét Gunnvaldsborg, hún var mikil og forn, og þar tók hann jarl er fyrir réð borginni er hét Geirfinnur. Þá átti Ólafur konungur tal við borgarmennina. Hann lagði gjald á borgina og á jarl til útlausnar, tólf þúsundir gullskildinga. Slíkt fé var honum goldið af borginni sem hann lagði á.

Svo segir Sighvatur:

Þrettánda vann Þrænda,
það var flótta böl, dróttinn
snjallr í Seljupollum
sunnarla styr kunnan.
Upp lét gramr í gamla
Gunnvaldsborg um morgun,
Geirfinnr hét sá, gerva
gengið, jarl um fenginn.
