Eftir það hélt Ólafur konungur liði sínu vestur í Karlsár og
herjaði þar, átti þar orustu.
En þá er Ólafur konungur lá í Karlsá og beið þar byrjar og ætlaði að sigla út til Nörvasunda og þaðan út í Jórsalaheim þá dreymdi hann merkilegan draum, að til hans kom merkilegur maður og þekkilegur og þó ógurlegur og mælti við hann, bað hann hætta ætlan þeirri að fara út í lönd: "Far aftur til óðala þinna því að þú munt vera konungur yfir Noregi að eilífu."
Hann skildi þann draum til þess að hann mundi konungur vera
yfir landi og hans ættmenn langa ævi.
