Eftir um vorið bauð hvortveggi konunganna leiðangri út og
fóru þau orð um að þeir mundu til orustu leggja við Elfi. En
er hvortveggi herinn sótti mjög til móts við annan þá gerðu
lendir menn njósn úr hvorutveggja liði til frænda sinna og
vina og fylgdi það orðsending hvorratveggju að menn skyldu
gera frið milli konunganna. En fyrir því að konungar voru
báðir bernskir og ungir þá höfðu landráð fyrir þeim
ríkismenn, þeir er til þess voru teknir í hvorutveggja landi.
Kom þá svo að sáttarstefna var lögð milli konunga.

Síðan fundust þeir sjálfir og var þá rætt um sættir og kom
það í sáttmál að konungarnir svörðust í bræðralag og settu
frið milli sín meðan beggja þeirra líf væri en ef annar hvor
þeirra andaðist sonlaus þá skyldi sá er eftir lifði taka
eftir hann lönd og þegna. Tólf menn þeir er ágætastir voru af
hvoru ríkinu svörðu þar til með konungunum að þessi sætt
skyldi haldast meðan nokkur þeirra lifði. Skildust þá
konungarnir og fór hvortveggi heim í sitt ríki og hélst þessi
sátt meðan þeir lifðu.
