Þá er Haraldr konungr var nær sjaurœðum, gat hann son við konu þeirri, er Þóra er nefnd Morstrstǫng. Hon var æzkuð ór Morstr. Hon átti góða frændr, hon var í frændsemistǫlu við Hǫrða-Kára. Hon var kvinna vænst ok in fríðasta. Hon var kǫlluð konungs ambátt. Váru þá margir þeir konungi lýðskyldir, er vel váru ættbornir, bæði karlar ok konur. Sá var siðr um gǫfugra manna bǫrn at vanda menn mjǫg til at ausa vatni eða gefa nafn. En er at þeirri stefnu kom, er Þóru var ván, at hon myndi barn ala, þá vildi hon fara á fund Haralds konungs. Hann var þá norðr á Sæheimi, en hon var í Morstr. Hon fór þá norðr á skipi Sigurðar jarls. Þau lágu um nóttina við land. Þar ól Þóra barn uppi á hellunni við bryggjusporð. Þat var sveinbarn. Sigurðr jarl jós sveininn vatni ok kallaði Hákon eptir feðr sínum, Hákoni Hlaðajarli. Sá sveinn var snimma fríðr ok mikill vexti ok mjǫg líkr fǫður sínum. Haraldr konungr lét sveininn fylgja móður sinni, ok váru þau at konungsbúum, meðan sveinninn var ungr.
