[All]: Hálfdan’s place of burial is also given as Ringerike in Ágr (ÍF 29, 3) and Fsk (ÍF 29, 58). According to the additions to Fsk (II. Um einn ógæfuatburð ‘Concerning an unlucky event’) he was buried in Ringerike, but his head was moved to Skiringsal in Vestfold (ÍF 29, 366). Snorri tells us that people intended to bury Hálfdan in Ringerike, but at the behest of powerful men from other districts under his rule, his body was dismembered and interred in four different locations (Romerike, Hedmark, Vestfold and Ringerike), and all those burial mounds were known as ‘Hálfdan’s mounds’. See HsvHkr (ÍF 26, 93).
