[7] hvat kveðr þú ‘what do you say’: The ms. has kvað, 2nd pers. sg. pret. ‘did you say’ here and in Hálf 22/7 (where it is written out in full) and Hálf 24/7, so is unlikely to be a scribal error. At the same time the pret. in this context does not make sense, so all eds, beginning with Bugge (Hálf 1864), have emended to the 2nd pers. sg. pres. tense here and in the two other instances in which kvað occurs. Hálf 1981, 118. 180 retains the ms. form.
