II. Introduction to bibliographical guidelines

This is not currently part of the peer-reviewed material of the project. Do not cite as a research publication.

All editors will prepare a bibliography of primary and secondary literature relating to the texts they edit.

They will prepare:

a) a comprehensive bibliography which captures all previous editions and secondary literature and

b) a selective bibliography of editions and secondary literature that they have actually cited in their editions.

The bibliographies will not be annotated. They will be combined with the Harvard system of in-text referencing, as exemplified in the Clover-Lindow volume (1985), modified as explained in I-C-1 above.

These bibliographies will form part of a single separate bibliographical volume for the edition (Volume 9), to be prepared by Edith Marold and her team in Kiel.

• Edith will apply to the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft for funding to support research into and collection of bibliographical material for the project. It is hoped that standardised bibliographical software may be made available for the use of all editors, e.g. Endnote.

• The bibliography-in-progress will be available on the project’s web site, located at the Centre for Medieval Studies, University of Sydney.
