K. Numbers

This is not currently part of the peer-reviewed material of the project. Do not cite as a research publication.

1. Numbers should be written as words if less than 100 and if not part of a specific reference, list or data set, e.g. ‘A total of thirty-four verses are preserved in ...’; otherwise they should be in figures.

2. In runs of numbers, the second number should have as few digits as possible, e.g. vv. 32-3, sts 57-9, 191-6 not vv. 32-33, sts 57-59, 191-96 (or 191-196). However for runs of numbers between 10-19, retain the second digit, e.g. 14-19, not 14-9, 10-12, not 10-2. For dates, use the minimum number of digits (e.g. 1953-4 not 1953-54, but 1848-52).
