This is not currently part of the peer-reviewed material of the project. Do not cite as a research publication.

Some issues raised in discussions with stakeholders:

There is a need for scripts and/or libraries for converting older encodings of MUFI to newer ones, particularly characters moving from PUA to the international standard.
There is the need for some standardisation or recommendation about precomposed characters, about how these should ideally be encoded. For example, should LATIN SMALL LETTER O WITH OGONEK AND ACUTE be (a) E60C, (b) 01EB+0301, (c) 00F3+0328, (d) 006F+0301+0328 or (e) 006F+0328+0301?
Should PUA characters rather be encoded with XML entity references for standards-compliant documents?
