Note to Svart Skauf 28VIII

[2] vorðinn mjög sárr ‘been badly wounded’: Emendation in keeping with Jón Þorkelsson (1888; 1922-7, followed by Páll Eggert Ólason 1947). The 603 reading sárr orðinn lit. ‘wounded been’ lacks alliteration and is hypometrical, and the variant in Rask87ˣ, mjög sárr orðinn lit. ‘badly wounded been’, also lacks alliteration. For the reintroduction of the initial <v> in vorðinn, see Note to st. 25/2.
