○. Pre-Christian Religions of the North: Sources 4. More on databases, linking and myth 4. How to document objects of the same type

4. How to document objects of the same type

This is not currently part of the peer-reviewed material of the project. Do not cite as a research publication.

Objects of the same type (e.g. iron distaffs, rattles, etc.) should be documented this way:

  1. Create an entry under ‘Mythological Sources’ (in ‘skalds’ table) > ‘Object types’ (in ‘text’ table) > new type (in ‘verses’ table)
  2. Add documentation about the class of object to the ‘introduction’ field for the pseudo-‘verse’
  3. Add individual objects, locations, dates, etc. to the ‘mss’ table (using object type)
  4. Link the objects to the object type using the mss/inscriptions form for the pseudo-‘verse’
