G. British or American English?

This is not currently part of the peer-reviewed material of the project. Do not cite as a research publication.

Now that a decision has been made to publish with Brepols, we have decided to use British rather than American English for the edition. Those of the General Editors whose task it will be to check the English language aspects of the edition (Clunies Ross, Whaley) will be able to assist with any queries from North American contributors. As suggested in >> 6. Guidelines for the English translation, it is in any case desirable to avoid usages that are exclusive to one variety of English, as far as possible.

It should be noted that this decision affects punctuation, discussed below, as well as spelling and usage.
