a. These will be identified by the siglum for the source in question (>> 5. Sigla for sources C), in italics, followed by the date of the edition, then page number(s) and chapter number (if required: see >> 3. Guidelines on presentation B-6-d). Hence, e.g:
SnE 1848-87, III, 14; SnE 1931, 70; SnE 1998, 47; Hallfr 1977, 53 (ch. 6).
b. Chapters should be in the format: ch. 5, chs 5-6 etc.
# c. If there is no direct citation, give chapter number only; if there is a direct citation, give abbreviated edition reference followed by page number(s).
# d. Frequently used items may be assigned particular sigla, e.g. Hms not Unger 1877. Name and date references, e.g. Indrebø 1931, should be used in the Notes when reference is made to items that occur only rarely.
# e. i. Citations from SnE should regularly be given from Faulkes's edition.
ii. There is a new edition of Saxo's Gesta Danorum: Friis-Jensen, Karsten, ed. 2005. Saxo Grammaticus Gesta Danorum Danmarkshistorien. Bd. 1-2. Dansk oversættelse ved Peter Zeeberg. Copenhagen: Det Danske Sprog- og Litteraturselskab & Gads Forlag. This should now be preferred over Olrik & Ræder 1931, and abbreviated as Saxo 2005. References should be given in the format: Saxo_2005>,_<volume no. (in roman capitals)>,_<book no. (in arabic)>,_<chapter no. (arabic)>,_<section no. (arabic)>,_<p. (or pp.)>_<page number(s) (arabic)>. For example: Saxo 2005, II, 14, 43, 5, pp. 408-9. (Note that Friis-Jensen also numbers every sentence within sections (in superscript), but it is not necessary to provide the sentence number.)
