3. Towards some editorial principles
This is not currently part of the peer-reviewed material of the project. Do not cite as a research publication.
It is probably impossible to formulate a definitive set of procedures to cover all the variable factors involved in skaldic editing, and the approach to editing must always be responsive to individual textual situations. However, the making of the new edition provides an opportunity for ongoing debate, and the following may provide an interim framework, and a checklist of some of the more important considerations.
