[8] Hjarrandi: Hjarrandi was the father of Heðinn (see Note to st. 45 [All]). Hjarrandi is also a heiti for Óðinn, however, and it is unclear whether Hjarrandi as Heðinn’s father is secondary in the Old Norse versions of the story (he is not mentioned by Saxo). See the discussion in the Note to Bragi Rdr 11/5-6, as well as Note to Þul Óðins 4/5.
