MUFI: The Medieval Unicode Font Initiative 9. Notes

9. Notes

This is not currently part of the peer-reviewed material of the project. Do not cite as a research publication.

Some issues raised in discussions with stakeholders:

  • There is a need for scripts and/or libraries for converting older encodings of MUFI to newer ones, particularly characters moving from PUA to the international standard.
  • There is the need for some standardisation or recommendation about precomposed characters, about how these should ideally be encoded. For example, should LATIN SMALL LETTER O WITH OGONEK AND ACUTE be (a) E60C, (b) 01EB+0301, (c) 00F3+0328, (d) 006F+0301+0328 or (e) 006F+0328+0301?
  • Should PUA characters rather be encoded with XML entity references for standards-compliant documents?
