Þham Magndr 2II/1 — lét ‘set out’

Vestr lét varga nistir
— vann hilmir frið bannat —
— hrǫnn brutu hlýr in stinnu —
hugprúðr fǫru snúðat.

Hugprúðr nistir varga lét fǫru snúðat vestr; hilmir vann bannat frið; in stinnu hlýr brutu hrǫnn.

The staunch-hearted feeder of wolves [WARRIOR] set out on a swift journey to the west; the prince prohibited peace; the stiff prows broke the wave.

notes

[1, 4] lét fǫru snúðat ‘set out on a swift journey’: Lit. ‘let a journey be precipitated’. Snúða ‘precipitate’ is a hap. leg. formed from the adj. snúðigr ‘fast, quick’ (see AEW: snúða).
