Gamlkan Has 40VII/5 — Sterk ‘The mighty’

Mjǫk gengr môttr ok ríki
mæts varðanda jarðar
— lýð dugir helzt at hræðask
hann — of allt vit manna.
Sterk lofar drótt ok dýrkar
dagstalls konung snjallan;
himins es fylkir fremri
fróðr hvívetna góðu.

Môttr ok ríki mæts varðanda jarðar gengr mjǫk of allt vit manna; lýð dugir helzt at hræðask hann. Sterk drótt lofar ok dýrkar snjallan konung dagstalls; fróðr fylkir himins es fremri hvívetna góðu.

The might and power of the glorious guardian of the earth [= God] surpasses greatly all the understanding of men; it befits people most of all to fear him. The mighty host praises and glorifies the excellent king of the day-support [SKY/HEAVEN > = God]; the wise king of heaven [= God] is superior to everything that is good.
