Anon Sól 17VII/5 — hagr ‘condition’

Á sik þau trúðu        ok þóttuz ein vera
        allri þjóð yfir,
en þó leiz        þeira hagr
        annan veg almátkum guði.

Þau trúðu á sik ok þóttuz vera ein yfir allri þjóð, en þó leiz hagr þeira annan veg almátkum guði.

They trusted in themselves and thought that they alone were above all people, but yet their condition seemed quite different to almighty God.
