Vili þier eigi várum sálum,
vífin björt, er fara af lífi,
vísa frá yðr verndarlausum;
veitið oss, það er miskunn heitir.
Ynnilig berr allra kvinna
æru og prís af drottni skærum
Máría sjálf, er meyjum stýrir
móðurliga og öllu góðu.

Vili þier, björt vífin, eigi vísa frá yðr várum verndarlausum sálum, er fara af lífi; veitið oss, það er heitir miskunn. Ynnilig Máría, er móðurliga stýrir meyjum og öllu góðu, berr sjálf æru og prís allra kvinna af skærum drottni.

Do not, bright women, reject our defenceless souls, when they depart from life; grant us what is called mercy. The beloved Mary, who, motherly, rules over maidens and everything good, herself has honour and praise above all women from the bright Lord.
