Anon Heildr 17VII/6 — sonr ‘son’

Vegr sé feðr ok fögrum,
fljótt, óskmegi dróttins;
lofi huggara hygginn
hirðprúðra kyn virða;
en salkonungs sólar
sonr eingetinn hreinar
sendi oss með anda
ört vingjafir björtum.

Vegr sé feðr ok fögrum óskmegi dróttins; kyn hirðprúðra virða lofi fljótt hygginn huggara, en eingetinn sonr sólar salkonungs sendi oss ört hreinar vingjafir með björtum anda.

Glory be to the Father and to the beautiful beloved Son of the Lord [= Christ]; may the kin of courtly men swiftly praise the thoughtful comforter, and may the only son of the king of the hall of the sun [(lit. ‘son of the sun’s hall-king’) SKY/HEAVEN > = God > = Christ] graciously send us pure gifts of friendship along with the radiant spirit.
