Hǫrðr Lv 2VIII (HjǪ 25)/1 — mælti ‘spoke’

Hörðr mælti,         inn hyggjustóri:
‘Hví hrekr þú mik,         Hervör, í orðum?
Væri heldr nær         vífi skæru
vera hoskum dreng         holl í ráðum.’

Hörðr mælti, inn hyggjustóri: ‘Hví hrekr þú mik í orðum, Hervör? Væri heldr nær skæru vífi vera hoskum dreng holl í ráðum.’

Hǫrðr spoke, the great-minded: ‘Why do you scold me, Hervǫr? It would be rather more fitting for a pure woman to be gracious in counsels to a wise man.’
