þess’s á breiðu         Bretlandi sat;
hét Merlínus         margvitr gumi.

I resolve to tell the trees of the channel-fire [GOLD > MEN] the wise prophecies of the noble prophet, who resided in extensive Britain; the man wise in many things was called Merlin.
