Efldu mik örvar ok Jólfs smíði,
stórgör skeyti ok stinnr bogi,
ok þat it fimta, er þú fregna skalt,
at ek við ásu aldri þýddumk.
Örvar ok smíði Jólfs efldu mik, stórgör skeyti ok stinnr bogi, ok þat it fimta, er þú skalt fregna, at ek þýddumk aldri við ásu.
The arrows and Jólfr’s handiwork aided me, the huge shafts and the strong bow, and the fifth thing which you must hear of, that I never submitted to the gods.

Pronouns and determiners: Definite article
The definite article is normally suffixed to nouns, except in some cases where it is used with an adjective. If the noun form ends in a vowel, the 'i' in the article is dropped. If the noun form ends in 'um', the 'm' and 'i' are both dropped. E.g. hesta (acc. pl.) > hestana (acc. pl. definite); hestum (dat. pl.) > hestunum (dat. pl. definite)
