Gakktu greiðliga         gistingar til.

Hverr er kominn einn saman í ey? Gakktu greiðliga til gistingar.

Who has come alone onto the island? Go quickly to your lodging.

readings

[1] saman: om. 2845, ‘með ofs’ R715ˣ

notes

[1-2]: Despite the description of the mær ung ‘young woman’ in l. 1 and the use of the f. forms ein and komin in Hb, the m. forms of the pron. einn and p. p. kominn have been used here, since the shepherd, who is the speaker, believes Hervǫr to be male; cf. hverr ‘who’ m. nom. sg. in l. 5 (which form is written in Hb) and subsequent stanzas spoken by the shepherd, where Hb as well as the other mss use m. forms to refer to Hervǫr. — [1] einn saman ‘alone’: Skj and Skald prefer 2845’s reading, ýta ‘of men’.
