Sturl Magndr 1II/2 — frægri ‘a splendid’

Ungr tókt, jöfra þengill
ægr, með vígslu frægri,
(kynniz kapp þitt mönnum)
konungsnafn á þik (jafnan).
Ok, sókngæðir, síðan,
snjallmæltr, hlutuð allrar
— hér lýsik veg vísa —
vald framkomit aldar.

Ægr þengill jöfra, tókt ungr konungsnafn á þik með frægri vígslu; kapp þitt kynniz jafnan mönnum. Ok, snjallmæltr sókngæðir, hlutuð síðan framkomit vald allrar aldar; hér lýsik veg vísa.

Terrifying lord of princes [KING], as a young man you accepted the title of king with a splendid consecration; your courage will always be made known to men. And, wise-spoken battle-increaser [WARRIOR], later you received the supreme power over all people; here I proclaim the glory of the prince.
