Notes: [All]: Sigvatr draws attention to the fact that the fighting took place on Palm Sunday, the start of the week of preparation immediately preceding Easter (Holy Week). — [2] hríð ‘battle’: ‘Rið’ in the mss; following Norw. practice, spellings of <hr> as <r> are common in the Fsk mss. — [3, 4] peitneskum hjalmi ‘a Poitou-made helmet’: This reference to an evidently prestigious location of manufacture follows up on the more generic inn valska hjalm ‘the Frankish helmet’ of st. 5/6.
