Context: Cited as an example of metaplasmus involving synaloephe (‘sínalimphe’), i.e. the omission of a vowel, as shown by the cliticisation of hvés (< hvé es) to form skothending with krúsi.

Notes: [All]: In Ht, Snorri Sturluson calls this type of cliticisation bragarmál (see SnE 2007, 8 and Section 3.2.1 of the General Introduction in SkP I). — [1] krúsi ‘the cross’: This form of krúx (Lat. crux) is recorded in both mss and is required for the skothending.
