höggið náði hann að þiggja
og hæstum sig gaf drottni kæstum.
Jartegnir, sem jafnan birtaz,
andi guðs á váru landi
unnið hefir fyr ástvin þenna
ótal manns til heilsubótar.

Notes: og ‘and’: Finnur Jónsson (Skj B) and Kock (Skald) omit the word; see, however, NN §1767. — gaf ‘gave’: The emendation is uncertain; in 720a VI there seem to be two letters following ‘sig’ that are no longer visible. — [5-8]: At least one example of a pilgrimage to a local shrine of Blaise, at Breiðholt, near Reykjavík, is mentioned in Þorláks saga (Jón Helgason 1978, 373), in which a man who had lost the power of speech vowed to give some oil to the saint (c. 1325).
